چکیده
Abstract The growing global economy resulted in an incessant increase transportation and exploitation of oil. Hence, the oil spillage has been considered a serious threat to aquatic terrestrial ecosystems. Therefore, water purification major challenge around world. There are numerous classical methods available for removal from water, but owing multiple defects disadvantages, research efforts have focused find such adsorbents which can improve adsorption capability. Traditional adsorbent material typically applied includes activated carbon, organoclays, wool, zeolites, etc. These materials suffer several drawbacks as low absorption capacity, non-selective absorption, complicated reusability, whereas nano-adsorbents offer advantages having sorption sites, large surface area, short intra-particle diffusion distance, tuneable pore size, ease low-temperature modification. Multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) extensively used with strong affinity organic pollutants. functionalization MWCNTs further capacity manifolds remove materials. nanocomposites also compatible green environmentally friendly adsorbents. This review paper aims at providing insight understand properties their potential use adsorb hydrocarbons water. Moreover, synthesis those materials, modification procedures including metal oxide nanoparticles, applications discussed detail. Graphic abstract

Adsorption of Methyl orange dye from Water solutions by carboxylate group functionalized multi-walled Carbon nanotubes
The present study was carried out to investigate the potential of carboxylate group functionalized Multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT−COOH) adsorbent for the removal of Methyl orange (MO) textile dye from aqueous solutions. The effects of pH, shaking time and temperature on adsorption capacity were studied; the contact time to obtain equilibrium at 298 ˚K was fixed at 25 min. The effect of te...

متن کاملEpoxy functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes for improved adhesives
Three different types of epoxy-functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes (EpCNTs) were prepared by multiple covalent functionalization methods. The EpCNTs were characterized by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and Raman spectroscopy to confirm covalent functionalization. The effect of the different chemistries on the adhesive properties was compared to a neat c...

متن کاملHighly water-soluble multi-walled carbon nanotubes amine-functionalized by supercritical water oxidation.
Multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) have been amine-functionalized by eco-friendly supercritical water oxidation. The facilely functionalized MWNTs have high solubility (~84 mg L(-1)) in water and 78% transmittance at 30-fold dilution. The Tyndall effect is also shown for several liquids.
